Dhaka City Gay Group is a safe, inclusive, and confidential Telegram community for LGBTQ+ individuals living in or connected to Dhaka, Bangladesh. Given the complex legal and social landscape surrounding sexual orientation and gender identity in Bangladesh—where same-sex relations remain criminalized under Section 377 of the Penal Code—the channel prioritizes digital safety, anonymity, and peer-led emotional support. It serves as a discreet space for sharing verified resources: mental health referrals (including low-cost and anonymous counseling options), legal aid contacts, harm-reduction guidance, and updates on regional LGBTQ+-friendly services. The group does not engage in public advocacy or political mobilization but focuses on practical solidarity—such as organizing private social meetups (with strict consent and security protocols), sharing affirming literature in Bengali and English, and offering mentorship between members across age and experience levels.
